Important Updates on the Chamber Blue of Kansas Health Plan

Background Information

On April 29, 2024, the Department of Labor (DOL) released the Final Rule on Association Health Plans (AHPs). This rule rescinded the 2018 AHP regulations and reinstated the original, more stringent guidelines, effective July 1, 2024. Under these original regulations, only bona fide associations, groups of employer with a shared professional commonality of interest, are permitted to form AHPs. This impacts "chamber plans" like ours, which were formed under the 2018 rule. 

 
Impact on the CCEKS Health Plan

As the CCEKS Health Plan was formed under the 2018 AHP rule, it must terminate in its current form. However, we have secured an extension from the Kansas Insurance Department (KID) to continue the plan until December 31, 2024, rather than ending on June 30, 2024.

What's Next?​

We are actively working on a new plan option for Great Bend Chamber of Commerce members to access starting January 1, 2025. We have partnered with Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc. to help us find the best available plan options for our members.

  • November/December: Implementation and open enrollment

  • December: Member materials and ID cards issuance
